Canned Acoustica, part of our Xfinity
Entertainment Series, brings the best musical acts in town to perform an unplugged concert on Discovery Green’s Transier Bandstand. This popular series challenges bands to rethink and rearrange their songs using only acoustic instruments, resulting in a unique and intimate performance.
Each concert features a selection of local or regional bands representing a mix of genres including rap, metal, Latin, indie, rock and soul. Houston promoter and manager Mark C. Austin originally launched Canned Acoustica in 2010; after a years-long hiatus, the concept was revived at Discovery Green in fall 2017.
Over the years, Canned Acoustica concerts have been a way for musicians and audiences alike to give back to the community. Admission is free, but guests are encouraged to make a small donation to support Discovery Green’s free year-round music programming. Food and drinks, provided by The Grove, will be available on site.
