First Saturday Arts Market in the Houston Heights got its start in March 2004 and has continued quietly each month since. Hosting a curated selection of fine art and artisan craft from all over greater Houston, the dozens of artists that attend each month make up a wide cross-section of Houston’s diverse arts culture.
The market is Houston’s longest continuously running outdoor fine art event. Boasting close to 50 artists each month, the market is best described as a small-scale version of a large juried art festival. With popular food trucks, local singer/songwriters, beer and wine, the market is a popular stop on the busiest day of the month for Houston’s oldest community.
First Saturday Arts Market is located in the Historic Houston Heights by YogaOne Studios, 530 W. 19th St. at Lawrence St., the market showcases paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry and handcrafted items. The entire family is welcome to enjoy the art, live music and delicious fare from some of the area’s best gourmet food trucks.
Open year-round on the first Saturday of each month, the market is open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. September through May and from 6-10 p.m. from June through August.
