ST 37 (Austin, TX)
Since their formation in January of 1987, Texas psych/space rock legends ST 37 have released 4 LPs, 3 double LPs, 8 CDs, 1 12" 45, 5 7" 45s, 8 CDRs, 3 double CDRs, 7 cassettes, and appeared on over 40 compilations and collaborations on labels ranging from Emperor Jones and RRR to Cleopatra and Noiseville. They've played over 500 shows and toured extensively all around the United States and Canada. The band has shared the stage with artists like Sonic Youth, Acid Mothers Temple, Faust, Bardo Pond, the Butthole Surfers, Hawkwind, Chrome, Guru Guru, Helios Creed, Indian Jewelry, Suisho no Fune, and many more as well as playing festivals like Terrastock, SXSW, Strange Daze and Flaxfield. They have scored and performed live original soundtracks to the Fritz Lang films Metropolis and Destiny (Der Mude Tod). Their current lineup reads like a veritable Who's Who of contemporary southern and western American adventurous music; newest member Matt Turner (Quttinirpaaq, Shit and Shine, bees are black) joins Bobby Baker (Baby Robots, Rubble), Bob Bechtol (Seven Inch Stitch, Thanatopsis Throne) and longterm stalwarts SL Telles (My Education, Moray Eeels), Joel Crutcher (Abigail und Hansel) and Lisa Cameron (Venison Whirled, Three Day Stubble, Roky Erickson's Evilhook Wildlife E.T., Moist Fist, Glass Eye) to create music unlike anyone else's.

The Wheel Workers (Houston, TX)
“White Lies/All My Fault,” the new split single from Houston-based band The Wheel Workers—may be a pair of songs aimed straight at Donald Trump and the 2016 election, but musically and lyrically, it extends far beyond the political heat of the moment."- Alex McLevy, The A.V. Club

«They are simultaneously brilliant and down-to-earth, sincerely progressive and catchy as hell, that rare band that can incorporate thoughtful politics into music while keeping things fun and engaging...The Wheel Workers are freaking awesome, and [with Citizens] they’ve gone a very different direction from the path they marched down last time. And it’s good. Oh, is it good.» — Jeremy Hart, Space City Rock

Golden Cities (Houston, TX)
Formed in 2007, Golden Cities is a psych/dream pop band from Texas. Influenced heavily by Yume Bitsu, Surface of Eceon, Landing,90's Space Rock, shoegaze, Kraut Rock and 80's post punk, the cure, New Order etc. Golden Cities have played many great bands over the years- Windy and Carl, Maserati, Sleepy Sun, We Are Powers, White Hills, Yuck, My Education, Apple Seed Cast, Jana Hunter and played multiple sxsw showcases.

Project Grimm (Houston, TX)
A decidedly less experimental group than its most direct predecessor, the Mike Gunn, Project Grimm was formed in 1995 by Gunn frontman and guitarist John Cramer to satisfy his urges to be a bit more straightforward in his approach to guitar rock. Interested in looking to build a band around this new direction, Cramer called local drummer Rick Costello (…of Houston band Bleachbath) who volunteered his services straight away. Drew Calhoun joined on bass, and former Schlong Weasel (University of Houston “branch”) member Jim Otterson rounded out the lineup as second guitarist. Their first show, on July 3, 1995 was followed by recording sessions that would result in their first album, Lying Down out on Linus Pauling Quartet’s Ramon Medina (also a former Schlong Weasel-er) Worship Guitars label in 1996. The pace of recording and releasing would slow down considerably for the band, which wouldn’t quite get around to releasing the follow-up until 2003. In the meantime, Bo Morris would take over on drums for the kicked out Rick Costello, and Cramer would work with former Mike Gunn colleague Scott Grimm on his Dunlavy project. July 2003 would see the release of Project Grimm’s second album, Huge Beings (released on Camera Obscura’s Australian sister label Camera Lucida), but it would also see the band split — on the very day of the album’s release. Leader John Cramer would later appear as a solo artist working under the name the Powers of Light & Darkness, and played sporadic shows around Houston. – Chris M. True via
