On this day, we build on work that started last year following the inauguration, following Jan 20 when we delivered policy recommendations to the mayor and were told to wait, following months of fighting hateful legislation from the state, all in our fight to bring change for our immigrant community, LGBTQ people, people of all religions, and people of color in Houston.

*WAIT, What's this SB 4 thing about?
SB 4 is a racist law that puts Houston and Texas communities of color at risk for racial profiling, criminalization, and has proven to threaten public safety by destroying trust between immigrant communities and law enforcement. It was signed into law by Gov. Abbott and passed by racist Republicans in the Texas House and Senate and fueled by a Trump agenda to mass incarcerate people of color, and detain and deport black and brown bodies in order to line the pockets of the prison industrial complex. And that is what we RESIST. #SB4isHATE More comments here: unitedwedream.org/press-releases/daniel-candelaria-olvera-remarks-on-sb-4-press-call-with-voto-latino/
